"I needn't have had any concerns about not being a classroom teacher or an artist. I needn't have worried about being 61 and gray haired. The instructors validated all of us and encouraged all of us to share our insights and learnings. Participants were all welcoming of each other. And there were all ages, a rich mixture."
Cal Alive! works to improve science literacy by giving teachers the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to get their students experiencing the natural world.
For teachers, we offer site-based training presented by expert teams of educators, naturalists, and biologists. For students, we design interactive multimedia and hands-on activities so they can explore the complex natural processes at work in California. We believe that environmental experiences are integral to student education; they will not protect what they do not understand.
Cal Alive! products and services are developed and distributed by the California Institute for Biodiversity (CIB), a statewide 501(c)3 non-profit organization that creates materials focused on environment-based science education.
